The Supreme Court is hearing the plea moved by Bollywood actor Rhea Chakraborty seeking the transfer of the case lodged against her and others in relation to the suicide of Sushant Singh Rajput from Patna to Mumbai.

    ---------------------------------
1.04pm - Supreme Court order grants no stay on the investigation. Centre through SG Tushar Mehta submits that as per instructions to him, the notification for CBI probe in the matter will be released by the end of the day.
Senior Advocate Shyam Divan: I am apprehensive about any coercive action.

Justice Roy: We will only say investigation in accordance with law by competent authority
1.00pm - Justice Roy imposes cost on an intervenor for filing a frivolous application.
ORDER: Having considered all of this, three days is given to all parties to file reply. State of Maharashtra should update on state of investigation by Mumbai police. Matter to be listed next week.
SG Tushar Mehta submits that the notification for the CBI investigation will be issued soon, preferably by the end of the day.
    12.58pm - ORDER:
Justice Roy: Serious allegations have been leveled against the petitioner. She has applied for transfer of proceedings from Patna to Mumbai....

... Bihar police has already entrusted investigation to CBI. SG Mehta has stated that in principle centre has accepted the CBI probe request.
12.57pm - Senior Advocate Singh insists that a direction be given to Mumbai police to cooperate with Bihar police.
SG Mehta requests to add Union of India as a party to the case. Court asks Centre to file an impleadment application

    Justice Roy dictates orders.
Senior Advocate Singh: The entire Bollywood film industry has been called for questioning and recording statements by Mumbai Police but the person who lowered the body of Sushant Singh Rajput from the ceiling fan has been allowed to go to Hyderabad!

12.46 pm - Senior Advocate Singh: Under a Section 406 petition, we are in an investigation stage. There is no proceeding in any court of law.
Justice Roy: We are not going into all of that.
Senior Advocate Singh: If CBI takes over the case, then Patna police will have no jurisdiction
Senior Advocate Singh: But if CBI does not take it up then investigation by Patna police cannot be stayed. Under Section 174 of CrPC, it is clear that only Patna police can investigate and not Mumbai police. No cognizable case registered in Mumbai.
    12. 44pm - Senior Advocate Rohatgi: By listening to Senior Advocate Basant it feels like he is arguing for petitioners
Senior Advocate Basant: Don't make such wild allegations. Bihar police has itself given up and now arguing against us?
12.43pm - Senior Advocate Basant: Mumbai police has no interest in this. Why will evidences be destroyed?
12.41pm - SG Mehta: One party wants Mumbai police to investigate and other wants Bihar police. Here Centre wants to investigate so that no evidence destroyed.
12.41pm: Senior Advocate Basant: Someone who has not complained to Mumbai police is saying we are not doing proper job. Concept of federalism is that two police cannot interfere in each other's job. I can place all records to substantiate that we are doing a very professional job.

12.35pm - Justice Roy: The quaratining of the Bihar police does not send a good message. The confinement .. does it send a good message? Especially when the case has garnered so much media attention? State of Maharashtra has to ensure that everything is done in professional way
12.30pm - Senior Advocate Basant: There is no jurisdiction of Bihar police here. Principles of Federalism is being tampered with.
Justice Roy: As of now perhaps Mumbai police has registered a case of unnatural death. We are not sure if all the aspects are highlighted in the FIR
12.26pm - Justice Roy: Lets not delve into the 24 hour time period then. It was long done away with.
Senior Advocate Singh: But evidences are being destroyed
Senior Advocate Basant: There is no cause of action for Patna to register the FIR. Nothing has happened in Patna. This is a political case
12.23pm - Senior Advocate Singh: Lordships have earlier directed that in cases even when there is no direct jurisdiction then even in those cases investigation cannot be stayed
Justice Roy: When did you lodge the FIR?
12.20pm - Senior Advocate Singh: Hear me today. The FIR is on record.
Justice Roy: I have read the FIR and relevant provisions of CrPC. I know what I am dealing with
12.18pm - Senior Advocate Rohatgi: Keep the matter next week. Do not pass any orders and no one will be prejudiced
12.15pm - Justice Roy: So Bihar government has already given up by transferring the case to CBI
Senior Advocate Singh: Evidence is being destroyed in the case. The investigating officer was quarantined. This is unbelievable
12.13pm - Senior Advocate Shyam Divan appears for Rhea Chakraborty: This is an application under Section 406. We were seeking transfer of FIR registered in Bihar. We also made an interim prayer granting stay over all proceedings and coercive actions against the petitioner

12.08pm - Solicitor General Tushar Mehta appears for Union of India.
SG: Centre has accepted the Bihar government’s recommendation for a CBI probe.
12.01pm - Justice Hrishikesh Roy to shortly hear the transfer petition filed by actor Rhea Chakraborty seeking to transfer FIR registered in Patna against her in the Sushant Singh Rajput suicide case to Mumbai

11.59am - Senior Advocate Shyam Divan to represent Rhea Chakraborty. Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi to appear for Bihar government.

11.30am - Transfer plea states that the FIR in Patna alleging abetment to suicide charges against Chakraborty is nothing but an act of "connivance" between the State of Bihar and the father of the late Sushant Singh Rajput.

11.25am - The petition states that Chakraborty has been falsely implicated in the case, and that Rajput and her were in a live-in relationship up till June 8, after which Chakraborty had temporarily shifted to her own residence in Mumbai.

11.00am - Hearing begins before the single-judge bench
